Beach


Windermere Marina Village has its own private beach that opens out onto the Lake. Complete with Barbeque facilities, the beach offers a fantastic view to the south and west.

Berths


Fully serviced and simple moorings are available all year round (approx. 400) suitable for all types of boat from 14 to 50ft. With a maximum depth of 3 foot 6 inches or 1 metre. However, a limited number of larger berths are available occasionally. Please enquire for details.

Boat Registration


All boats used on Lake Windermere must be registered at the Lake Wardens Office. This office can found at the Public Slipway off the Ferry Road, adjacent to the Marina. Tel: +44 (0) 15394 42753

Car Parking


Each berth holder is entitled to park on the main car park. However, at peak times this is restricted to one vehicle per berth on site at any one time. (N.B. There is also a public car park adjacent to the Marina).

Cranage


Essential for retrieval of larger boats from the water and boat maintenance, a crane and cranage bay is available at Windermere Marina Village. Available Monday to Friday throughout the year, please Contact Shepherds of Windermere for prices and details :

Electricity


Most berths are serviced with mains electricity - the maximum load, per berth is 10 amps.

All electricity supplies are protected by overload and earth leakage circuit breakers on the jetties, in addition to any other devices that may be fitted on the vessel.

Fire Extinguishers


Are located at numerous points on site - please familiarise yourself with these locations. We take safety very seriously and request that all vessels should carry the recommended number of fire extinguishers on board. Should you discover a fire please:
  • Raise the alarm
  • Contact a member of staff who will call the Fire Brigade, if they have not already been summoned.
  • Clear the area of any people who may be in danger, particularly those downwind of the fire.
  • Leave the area in an orderly manner and assemble in the main car park.

Fishing


There is great fishing on Lake Windermere, with an abundance of Trout, Pike and the indigenous Windermere Char. Fishing is possible around the Lake and from the beach at Windermere Marina Village. However please note: fishing is not permitted inside the marina.

The First Aid station is located at the poolside reception in the Spinnaker Club.

Fuel and Gas


Petrol and diesel are available at fuelling pontoons within Bowness Bay (3/4 mile by lake).

RE-FUELLING OF BOATS INSIDE THE MARINA IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED

Butane Gas cylinders can be re-filled at the Marina Office

Grocery Shop


The Marina Shop is open all year round and offers a wide range of goods, including newspapers, breakfast foods, bread, milk, fruit and vegetables, frozen goods and dairy produce.

A Hamper/Grocery Box can be ordered and delivered to your boat in time for your arrival.

Insurance


Insurance is not compulsory for boats in use on Lake Windermere. However, any boat moored at Windermere Marina Village must be fully insured.

Policy details are required with your application, as a condition of berthing.

Leashed Pets


Pets are allowed on the resort and in a limited number of cottages, however, they are not allowed into the Leisure Club. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.

Marina Office


The office is situated at the Marina entrance and is open 7 days a week from 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Outside those hours you can contact The Spinnaker Club or on-site security.

This office is the main administration point for any queries or contact with on-site management. All visitors should report to this office on arrival.

Marina Safety


All clients are recommended to wear non-slip flat footwear whilst on board their vessel and on the jetties.

In case of an emergency, lifebuoys are situated at strategic locations around the Marina.

Marinas are hazardous locations, particularly for small children who must not run or play on jetties. We strongly recommend that life jackets be worn at all times.

Playground and Outdoor Table Tennis


This outdoor area is available to the children of all members (see site plan for location). Parents/Guardians must ensure children are supervised at all times.

Pump-Out Unit


A mobile pump-out unit is avaiable on-site.  For a small fee we will pump-out your boat ready for your arrival saving you time and hassle.  Please contact reception to book.

Refuse


Refuse disposal and glass collection points are situated around the perimeter of the site.

It is very important that hazardous waste is not disposed of in these areas.

Resort Access


Vehicular access is through our main entrance (up to 3 tonnes). Loads in excess of this must use our Ferry Road entrance, which will be opened by arrangement (this entrance remains locked when not in use).

Access to and from the Marina by boat is via the entrance channel at the head of 'Sour Pool Bay' 500 yards south of the car ferry on the Eastern Shore of Windermere.

A maximum speed of 3mph is enforced at all times both in the Marina and in the Marina Channel. All vessels should stay in the centre of the channel when entering and leaving the Marina, with right of way granted to boats returning TO the Marina FROM the Lake.

Security


The resort is patrolled by on-site Security. Should you experience any problems they should be reported immediately to the Marina Office, the Spinnaker Club or directly to the guard. The local police telephone number is : 0845 3300247

Slipway


A private slipway is available for the use of Marina clients, by arrangement, for which a fee is payable. Vessels larger than 25 feet or with a particularly deep draft can either be launched at the near-by Ferry Nab Slipway - adjacent to the Lake Wardens Office- or lifted into the water by crane.

Speed Restrictions


Within the Marina, all vessels must travel 'dead slow' and avoid creating excessive wash or disturbance to other berth holders. The speed limit in the access channel is 3 mph.

The speed limit on the Lake itself is 10mph, reducing to 6mph within built up areas.

Telephones


An emergency phone is available on the terrace of the Spinnaker Club in a brown box, located at the Leisure Club end of the Complex.

A Payphone can be found in the bar area of the Spinnaker Club or at the Wardens Office on Ferry Road. Telephone messages can be taken through the Marina Reception as well a fax service for sending and receiving of Faxes.

Toilets, Showers and Laundry


Open 24 hours a day, a Toilet and Shower Block are available for the sole use of mooring holders. Laundry facilities are also available and can be accessed 24 hours a day.

Each berth is provided with its own security key to gain access to these facilities.

Trolleys to aid transportation of luggage and heavy items to and from your boat can be found at either end of the Spinnaker Club.

Waste Disposal


Vessels using Windermere are not permitted to discharge waste into the Lake, as it is a reservoir. Sea toilets must not be operated whilst on the Lake and must remain sealed at all times. It is an offence to use a sea toilet or break the seal that is placed aboard by the ENVIRONMENT AGENCY. Holding tanks fitted to your vessel offer the facility of waste storage and these can be pumped out at various locations around the Lake.

Water


Each jetty is equipped with a fresh water supply. In freezing weather conditions, drinking water can be obtained from the Laundry Room.

Water Depth

Wireless Internet Access


Wireless Internet Access is available at the Spinnaker Club and throughout most of the Marina. It is free of charge to those with their own laptops. Please ask at reception for the access code.
