Pet Friendly Lake District Holidays

The Lake District is the ideal location for a holiday with all the family; dogs included! Miles & miles of footpaths and many dog friendly attractions and pubs make the Lake District unbeatable for you and your four legged friend.

Here at Windermere Marina Village we are dedicated to ensuring you have everything you need in your pet friendly self catering accommodation, even down to the dog bowl. There is a charge of £30 per dog staying in a cottage at Windermere Marina Village.

The Ambleside self catering cottage sleeps up to five guests and the Bowness self catering cottages sleeps up to six guests. All our self catering accommodation is available for 3, 4 or 7 nights. Check our availability now.

New for 2012 - The Grasmere self catering cottage and the Coniston self catering cottage both sleep up to five guests. The Langdale self catering cottage and the Troutbeck self catering cottage both sleep up to six guests. All these cottages have views over the main marina and are welcome addition to our other popular pet friendly accommodation.

Things to do in the Lake District with your Dog

Here are a couple of walks right on our doorstep, its great to leave the car behind and head out onto the hills... You will find further information on what you and your four-legged friend can do in your Windermere Cottage Information.

Cockshott Point: approx 30 mins
Leave WMV by rear entrance, cross the road into the car park turn left and walk towards the lake, on your right hand side there is a path leading off, after crossing the small bridge take the swing gate on your left to walk along ‘Cockshott Point’. When you come to the main road turn right and walk along the road, the swing gate on your right after the farm track leads you back to the car park across farm land.

Far Sawrey: from 30mins to 2 hrs
Leave WMV by rear entrance, turn left and walk towards the car ferry, (cars £4, foot passengers 50p each way) walk along the road and a gateway on your right leads to the lake edge, various footpaths leave this foot path along the route, all are well signposted.

Pet Friendly Lake District Pubs

The Royal Oak on Kendal Road and the Ship Inn on Glebe Road in Bowness both welcome well behaved dogs. The Watermill at Ings is a little further a field but a treat for both man and dog with its own micro brewery.
